So Liam has has 15-month appointment next week because Bonehead Mama waited too long to schedule it, and they were all booked up with school physicals. So he will be just about 16 months at that point, but meh, whatever.
So I was making a list of things to ask about, since we actually haven't been there in awhile, which is crazy since it seems we were there every two days last winter! One of the things on my list was teeth brushing. I had asked the nurse about that at one point in time, but he didn't have more than a tooth or 2 at that point, and she didn't seem concerned. Well, now my research shows that we should probably get on this or have gotten on it awhile ago, as he has 10 or 11 teeth now! So I bought one of these little "brushes" that fits over my finger to stick in his mouth and rub around. I figured I could at least then say that I was making an effort at his appointment! Well, you can imagine how jazzed a 15 month boy is to have his mom stick her blue rubbered finger with bristles on the end into his mouth (read: not very). So I have learned that it is easier to just give the "brush" to him and let him play with it and stick it in his mouth in the bath. At least that way it was getting in there! Well, that isn't accomplishing a whole lot, even though I'm enthusiastically cheering him on if he gets it anywhere near his mouth.
Likewise, we have been asking him to identify body parts lately ("Where's your belly?"), and then enthusiastically cheering when he points at it. We were working on ears the other night in the tub, which he has just learned. So in general, if I'm touching him or doing anything involving a body part, I will say its name. So sometimes when I wash his pen.is, I will say that word as well. Two nights ago, I went to pick up the washcloth and said "Let's wash your pen.is". He took the washcloth out of my hands and did it himself! He SCRUBBD it. Umm.....OKAY! Claps. *I guess*
You guys, last night, we were working on the toothbrush thing again. I was trying to demonstrate my rubbing my finger on my teeth what he should be doing with that thing......and he started "brushing" his pe.nis with it! Ummm.....that's not......ummm.... *SIGH*

Silence
Holy crap it's been awhile since I've posted-the longest ever, I think! Yikes. Well, I don't have a whole lot of interesting blog fodder for you, although Liam turns 15 months old today! Wow. He is walking everywhere now, almost running even. I know people always say that once they get walking you will long for the days when they just stay put, but man, I love that he is walking. It's like having this crazy little drunk person wandering around the house terrorizing the dogs! Lord knows they deserve it! And they ought to put up with it, since Liam's second favorite activity is feeding them. He LOVES to throw everything onto the floor, but now, he just waits for one of them to perch next to the high chair, then he gingerly hands it to right to them, very purposefully. So much for the diet they are supposed to be on. I don't think the vet is going to be pleased at Roxy's next weigh-in! Oops. Who knew Rat Terriers liked bananas?!
Little Mr. Tantrum is still in full swing, unfortunately, but we do have some really good days with him where he is goofy and fun. He can turn on a dime over nothing though, and just seriously lose his shit. Perhaps this is normal, but I do think he is overly sensitive to transitions, changes, and lord knows what else. And he is SO attached to his blankie and his binky *SIGH*. So much for phasing that out by 15 months. Some days he's more attached than ever. We do have his daycare teacher on top of it though, and she tries to only let him have it at nap times. But he seriously hauls blankie around like a little Linus :). Cute, but probably not so cute when he's in Jr. High. Haha. He moves up to the next room in daycare next week! Crazy. He will have much more fun in there though, and hopepfully start to learn more from the "big" kids.
Things I have been enjoying this summer are: the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love. Um, HELLO Ryan Goslings's abs. I think I have developed a new crush on him. Great movie too! Mango Pineapple smoothies from Mc.Donald's. Seriously. SO GOOD! I am kind of addicted. The song Someone Like You by Adele. Man, I could have written that at one point in time.
Happy Friday!
