Hi Ho....

Back to work I go!  Well, back to work I went today. See how dedicated I am to my blog?  Posting on my first day back! (I started this post at work, but apparently I was too busy actually working to finish it!)   I thought it would feel more weird to be back after 12 weeks off, but it actually seems like I just left.  I can't believe that was May 26th when I was last here, and in labor at that.  Back to the daily grind!  I have mixed emotions. I don't think I'm cut out to be a full time stay at home mom, but I'm not sure I really want to be back here 34 hours/week either.  Unfortunately I don't think I will have the opportunity to change my schedule to less hours anytime soon. I do worry about my brain's capacity to handle anything more complex than watching HGTV, loading the dishwasher, changing diapers, and going to Target though!
D is out of town on business this week, so I had to handle the first day of daycare by myself.  I was kind of stressed about it, but everything went well. Liam seemed perfectly content there.  I called to check on him, and his teacher thanked ME for bringing her such an "awesome" baby!  Well, no problem Miss Cathy!  Glad I could help!  I was so glad to hear he was doing well.

Since my previous posts from the working world included maternity outfits, I thought in the spirit of my first day back, I would post one of my first non-maternity work outfit of 2010!

Lesser Taste

So D's mom requested Liam for a "few nights" this weekend, and we complied. I was a bit uneasy about this, as I felt like it would disturb what little routine we have been able to establish thus far. D pointed out that despite our best efforts, L doesn't really have a routine yet.  True enough. So off to Grandma's he went on Thursday. He will be back tomorrow.

Today D and I went to something dubbed the Lesser Taste of Greater Madison, in celebration of the much larger version in town this weekend that is much harder to get tickets to (and much more expensive). So this was a beer tasting "festival" of sorts.  I may or *may* not be under the influence right now!

Last night D and I had "date night". You'll notice my hair is a different color today.  Not sure that I wanted it that dark, but I will take it, I think!

His sister posted this pic of Liam at bath time last night, so I think he's doing okay!

Lastly, we received the disk with the rest of our maternity pics on them, and I found this one amusing!

I weighed myself yesterday, and it seems it have approx 13 lbs to go before hitting my "before" weight. So FINALLY my hard work is paying off a bit. I will keep up the hard work!

Uh... Wild Dogs?

We recently moved Liam to his crib in his room rather than the Pack n Play in our room.  This obviously made us finally break out the baby monitor.  The other night, the first night of the switch, I had the monitor sitting on my nightstand, as is the norm.  I awoke from a deep slumber, still half asleep, to hear Liam through the monitor.  He wasn't full-on crying, he was making his little noises that sound like grunts and other various odd sounds.  In my hazy state,  I was unclear what I was hearing.  I somehow though I was hearing a DOG FIGHT outside my window.  I mean, obviously, right?!   That makes perfect sense. I live in a new subdivision with a wooden privacy fence.....not an urban ghetto with dark alleys and stray dogs.  Pretty logical, huh?  (and no, I wasn't drunk when I went to bed!)  A dog fight.  So naturally, my first thought was to make sure MY dogs were okay, and not involved in the neighborhood brawl.  I checked, and Roxy was lying near my legs.  Thank goodness; dogs are safe!   Uh....yeah. Sounds coming from monitor.  Mommy is smart.  Mother of the year, right here.

Showered

My dad's side of the family threw my sister and I a joint baby shower this past weekend.  Obviously I already have Liam, and she is due 10/8. Since she lives in MN, we thought it would be best to just do it together.  My dad lives in a small college town, but he has a field right behind his house that contains either corn or soy beans, depending on the year. He also just purchased a tractor...for snow removal! Gotta love WI!  So we had to get pictures with his hilarious sad little tractor, and then with everything else in his garage including his golf cart and mini John Deer tractor.  Ah, good times :). The shower went well, got more clothes for the little man.

And my favorite picture so far of Liam :)

2 Months

Liam is 2 months old today!  He now weighs 10.14 and is 22 inches.  Big boy!  We received a Rx for Zantac, as he has been spitting up more and been getting fussier.  He used to do really well on stroller rides, in the car, in stores, etc.  Unfortunately that isn't continuing, which sucks for me..... he is just fussier in general. And while he doesn't nap very well during the day at all, he does really well at night all things considered.  On several occasions, he has slept from 9:30pm-5am!  WOO!
I go back to work in 4 weeks.  It's going really fast!
