Boom Boom Pow

L.I.A.M.

He was watching the Soup on TV and smiling at it!  Hah.  Whatever keeps him calm for a moment or two so we can actually get something done!

Liam is with my mom overnight tonight;  we had an annual "camping" trip to attend today.  My type of camping involves visiting the campers at their campsite and then leaving to sleep in civilization, which is exactly what we did :).  The campsite was near my hometown, so he is staying with Grandma tonight so D and I can have a night to ourselves.  I had 2 large glasses of sangria at dinner, and now I'm completely ready for bed.  At 9:49.  PARTY!  And still not cleared for any s.e.x. so going to bed early for a full night of sleep sounds fantastic to me.  That is my idea of a good "date night" these days!  My, how things change.

Smiling!

I think we're getting real smiles now rather than just gas!

Curls

As fun as it no doubt was to hear about my battle wounds, I give you baby curls!
And 9:30-4:30 last night and then back to sleep!  FTW!

Cauterized

So.  I had my 6 week follow appt today.   It would seem Liam did a number on me, and for such a little guy, he sure left a big, um, mark.  My tear is not yet healed. There is a still a spot (sorry for too much TMI), that remains "unattached".  She put some numbing gel on me today, and than used cauterizing liquid of some sort to get things stuck back together. (that is my obviously non-medical synopsis of the situation).  It stung.  It's sore again tonight.  *sigh*  She also wants me to use topical estrogen cream to promote healing down there.  Evidently hormone levels play a role in this process.  I am also starting back on BC pills tonight, which was my birth control of choice for years.  She said the estrogen in the pills will also be helpful.  Do I actually need birth control?  Most likely not. Especially since I am not cleared for any hanky panky yet. But hey, if it will help, then bring on the pills.

But the BIGGER issue at hand, or butt as the case may be, are my hemorrhoids. They are not going away. And as a bonus for me, they are internal AND external!  My doctor is suggesting SURGERY for me.  Oh my dear lord.  She admitted this surgery is not pleasant in any way, shape or form.   She said we need to think seriously about whether we plan to have more kids, as she really doesn't want me to have to go through it more than once.  I have another appt in 3 weeks to follow up on this issue.  Well, good lord.  We actually didn't intend to have more kids, but of course we aren't 100% certain on that, nor do I want to have to be at this point!  Obviously having the surgery would not be like having my tubes tied, but after reading some online account from others who have had it,  YIKES and more yikes.  I can see why Dr. H suggested it best be done only once. Does anyone know someone who has had that done?

Seriously, I am a mess!  She said she doesn't think the 'roids will heal on their own.  They are causing me to be a bit "incontinent" down there.  *ahem*. More TMI.  Sorry!   I am like a walking delivery horror story from a 6.11 lb baby.  I have no idea why he caused such a ruckus on his way out!   I can only hope things heal on their own.

Losing It

So I used to comment on my pregnancy "brain" (or lack thereof) and mothers would always tell me "it doesn't get better once you have the baby!"   I always thought "yeah, right".   Hmmmm....... nope, it really doesn't.

Yesterday I forgot my phone number!  I have also driven right by a VERY familiar turn and forgotten just about anything else I was supposed to be remembering. I have to write everything down.  Everything.  I can't remember what day of the week it is or whether I have brushed my teeth that day.

And I am to be trusted with the care of an infant??   Whoah.

1 Month Updates

Yesterday was Liam's 1 month birthday.  Sounds like a cliche, but I can't believe it's been a month already.  But yet, at the same time, I can....I know...deep thoughts, by Jen :)

And now, bullet points!

*  My week with D gone went pretty well overall.  The hardest thing was that I was used to us both taking turns getting up in the night, so my body wasn't very prepared to handle it all on my own.  Despite the fact that Liam continues to be a pretty good sleeper at night, he likes to wake up for the day around 5:30, so I'm starting to get pretty sleep-deprived. He isn't very good at napping more than catnaps during the day, so the whole "nap while he naps" thing doesn't really work for me.  D is back now, but he returns to work/clients tomorrow, so I can't really expect him to help much in the night when I don't have to get up for work.

* It was also pretty hard to get much done last week when I was by myself, but luckily I had a little help throughout the week so I could go to my OT appts and run some errands.  I am getting more used to taking him places with me though, and luckily he does really well in the car and in stores.  I think he was born to shop like his mom!  He also likes stroller rides, so that is pleasing to me since Operation Fit Into Pants is in full swing!

* His diaper rash finally went away, but we continue to use a hair dryer on his butt during changings, and that really seems to help keep things dried out down there.  He actually seems to like that quite a bit and make some pretty awesome faces during it. That surely seems like something we should be video taping to embarrass him with in high school!!  Ha

* Things are more healed with my stitches, but still not back to normal completely. If I walk too far or do too much, I still get sore.  Luckily it goes away then....until I inevitably overdo it again!  Grr.

* I am still reading all of your posts, but I am often sitting on the couch with Liam in my arms, so I have to type one handed, thus making me a poor commenter lately!  I'm sorry about that, but I'm still reading, and I still enjoy hearing what is going on with all of you.
