Crickets

You guys, this blog sucks (as I'm sure you're well aware at this point!).

I've got nothing. Well, that's not entirely true.   I have Pink Eye. Now seriously.  L isn't even sick.  WHY THE HELL do I have it??   And I don't even have a cold to go with it (not that I'm complaining).  Just random pink eye.   I have my sweet glasses on at work today.  With itchy eyes.   Suh-weet.

And let's see.  I think we are done with the helmet business.  He didn't "graduate" from it, but we have determined that his head is growing only very slowly at this point, which doesn't give the helmet much to actually work with.   He sleeps/naps much better without it, and is in general a happier person. Which, you know, is the goal.  D and I decided if wearing it for another several weeks was only going to make minor, barely noticeable changes, then it wasn't worth it to us.   And, we want our boy to be happy.  Because we're selfish like that.   So yeah.  We gave it the old college try (Go Badgers!), and now I think we're done.

D and I recently took a vacation to NYC, which made me feel like I needed a vacation from our vacation once we got home, but fun nontheless.  I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer!

Let There Be Cake

We had Liam's birthday party today.  Someone REALLY enjoyed his cake.   I guess when you compare it to pureed carrots and peas, who wouldn't??!!    He is actually on to "real" food now, but as of late, what he really likes are crackers.  Crackers of any kind.   Mother of the Year right here, folks.  MY CHILD LIKES GRAHAM CRACKERS!   (and they eat them as snacks at daycare).  Oh well, I just want him to eat and not throw everything on the floor for the dogs!

In bigger, much more exciting news, he took his first solo steps on his birthday.  What a perfect day for it to happen, although it was at daycare and not for us to see.  However, throughout the weekend, he has done it many more times.  We can't help but cheer when he does it. Today he had a room full of people cheering him on.   His own little cheering squad!

The party went well, but I'm glad it's over!   It was 90 degrees here today.  Seriously, Mother Nature is just screwing with us at this point.  It was 30 degrees cooler with wind and rain just yesterday.

Favorite FB status, seen yesterday:  "Mother Nature is being a ho-bag".
LOL.  Indeed.

Happy Memorial Day!

1 year Appointment

Well, we are two days away from L turning one!  Holy crap, I know. We had his 1 year appt today, despite not knowing we can't actually get his vaccines until he's actually a year or older. THAT would've been certainly helpful to know when scheduling the appt!  We will have to go back for the shots.  Oh well, we live close.

STATS:  Weight: 21.13 lbs, 36th percentile,  Height:  28.5", 14th percentile.  So he's getting a LITTLE longer and leaner :)

We get to start mixing some whole milk in with his Neocate formula, so hopefully that isn't a traumatic switch for him.

He has recently learned to scoot on his butt, and that is by far his preferred mode of transportation. He is getting very fast!   If we put him on his stomach, he immediately pushes backward and up to sit.  So I don't think crawling is going to happen!  He's pretty close to walking IMO, but I guess I don't know how long it takes them to get brave enough to actually take steps on their own.  He can stand on his own for 5-8 seconds now.  So he's getting braver with that!  He is constantly on the move and into everything.

Still wearing the helmet, making slow progress.  6 weeks in already!  He is certainly more used to it than he was, so we have surpassed our expectations with that.

We got some 1 year pics taken, will post them soon.
